Cold Drawing:

• Process: Hot‑rolled wire rods are reduced to final diameter by pulling (“drawing”) them through a series of progressively smaller dies at room temperature.
• Effect: Work‑hardens the steel, increasing its yield strength, tensile strength, and improving surface finish and dimensional accuracy.

Material Grade:

• Typically made from high‑carbon steel (e.g., C‑6 to C‑8 grades) with a tensile strength in the range of 1,770–1,860 MPa (or higher for special applications)

• Seven‑wire or nineteen‑wire strands: Cold‑drawn wires are helically wound to form prestressing strands per ASTM A416 or EN 10138.

Diameter   4.0 – 7.0 mm

Tensile Strength 1,770 – 1,860 MPa

Yield Strength    ≥ 1,700 MPa (low‑relaxation wire)

Elongation at Break    ≥ 2.5%

Relaxation (after 1,000 h at 80% stress)        ≤ 2%
